StickerYou “Make it Better” Contest Finalists!

We are just so excited to share this with you all!  We entered a small business contest by StickerYou called the “Make it Better” contest… and Pixie’s Candy Parlour has been picked as a finalist!

StickerYou is holding this contest as a way of celebrating Small Businesses across Canada and the U.S.  The winner gets a package valued at $10,000, which includes media exposure and $2,000 in product so that we can complete our storefront with decals & wall clings, and product labeling.

Why vote for us?

Since we took possession of our own little space the beginning of March, we have put everything we have into our store!  Jackie and I would work our day jobs, and then head over to the store to build with our Father.  Most nights we wouldn’t finish working on the store until 4am, then we would drive home, get a couple hours sleep… and do it all over again!  It took us a total of 3 months to build the store, it was a lot of work, but we are so happy with the final result.

When we opened our doors the end of June, the reception from the community has been absolutely heartwarming!  We feel so much joy when children walk into our store, their mouths gaping open just saying “wwwwoooooowww”.  Or when adults of all ages come across a candy they haven’t seen since their childhood, and the excitement they feel when the good old memories come flooding back.

To this day we continue to work our other jobs, along with running the store (with the help of our Mom for coverage – thanks Mom!), to ensure every cent earned in the shop is re-invested.  We are fully committed to growing and building our brand.

In the past 2 months, we haven’t been able to fit into our budget any advertising or marketing materials.  All of our initial investment went into building the store, purchasing our authentic soda fountain, and filling the store with candy for our customers.  We have depended solely on word-of-mouth advertising and we thank each and every one of our customers that have taken the time to share their love of our shop with their friends!

Winning this contest would give our little shop a huge boost; we would be able to advertise with bright window decals on the front of the store, product labels for our candy bags, and wall clings for the inside of the store.
